The Over De Flames burger, which could be the whopper to end all whoppers, contains more than 13,000 calories - almost the amount an average man should consume in a week.

Standing at around 30cm in diameter and containing a staggering 40 slices of cheese, the burger poses a gut-busting challenge for even the hungriest of customers. It is served with fries and a milkshake, boasts lashings of relish, ketchup and mayonnaise, plus two whole onions, three tomatoes and an entire head of lettuce.

Equivalent to more than 26 quarter-pounders, the monolithic meat feast contains three kilos of beef (6.5lb), dwarfing its competitors in the race to be named Britain's biggest - and most calorific - burger.

The brainchild of restaurateur Sudeep De, the burger is only available at the Over De Flames restaurant within Norwich venue The Basement.

Bizarre World Records

The most spoons balanced on the face is 16 and was achieved by Joe Allison (United Kingdom), aged 9, in Devon, United Kingdom, on 1 April 2008.

Ken Edwards of Glossop, Derbyshire, England ate 36 cockroaches in one minute on the set of The Big Breakfast, London, England on March 5, 2001.

Cindy Jackson, aged 53, (USA) has had at least 47 cosmetic procedures, including nine full scale surgical operations since 1988.

Using a computer and four blank keyboards, and without looking at the screen, Michele Santelia (Italy) typed backwards 67 books (3,503,013 words, 19,760,936 characters , 23.198 pages, 263,931 paragraphs, 499,554 lines) in their original languages including The Odyssey, Macbeth, The Vulgate Bible, the Guinness World Records Book 2002, and the Dead Sea Scrolls in Ancient Hebrew.

Fastest time to escape a zipped suitcase was 7.04 seconds achieved by Leslie Tipton (USA) on 31 May 2008.

Xie Qiuping has the world's longest hair, at over 16 feet. Her hair is so long that she must wear it in a tiara on her head and travel with an attendant.

The Guinness World Record for the loudest scream by an individual is a thundering 129 decibels, set in London in 2000 by Jill Drake, from Tenterden, Kent.

Michel Lotito (aka Monsieur Mangetout) from Grenoble, France, has been eating metal and glass since 1959. His diet since 1966 included 18 bicycles, 15 supermarket trolleys, seven TV sets, six chandeliers, two beds, a pair of skis, a low-calorie Cessna light aircraft and a computer. He is said to have provided the only example in history of a coffin (handles and all) ending up inside a man.

Christian Adam of Lübeck, Germany, has a current world record for cycling backwards with a violin for 60.45 kilometres (37.56 miles) in 5 hours, 9 minutes.

Lluis Colet, a 62-year-old Catalan and local government worker spoke for 5 straight days and 4 nights to set the record in the southern French town of Perpignan.

World's Largest Chocolate Egg

The Belgian chocolate producer Guylian made the chocolate egg with at least 50.000 bars on behalf of the city of St. Niklaas.

The egg measured 8.32 metres high and beats the record of Kwazulu-Natal in South-Africa in 1996. That egg was 7.65 metres high. Twenty-six craftsman worked altogether 525 hours to build the egg. They needed 1950 kg of chocolates.

Alderman Urbain Vercauteren of the city of St.Niklaas said the egg wasn't meant to be eaten. He said: "After a week outside in all weather conditions, I don't think it would be very tasteful."

9 Amazing Holes!

These holes are not only amazing, but some of them are really terrifying - especially #9!

The sheer scale of these holes reminds us just how small we really are.


1. Kimberley Big Hole - South Africa

Apparently the largest ever hand-dug excavation in the world, this 1097 meter deep mine yielded over 3 tons of diamonds before being closed in 1914.


2. Glory Hole - Monticello Dam, California

A glory hole is used when a dam is at full capacity and water needs to be drained from the reservoir. This is the 'Glory Hole' at Monticello dam, and it's the largest in the world of this type of spillway, its size enabling it to consume 14,400 cubic feet of water every second.


3. Bingham Canyon Mine - Utah

This is supposedly the largest man-made excavation on earth. Extraction began in 1863 and still continues today, the pit increasing in size constantly. In its current state the hole is 3/4 of a mile deep and 2 1/2 miles wide.


4. Great Blue Hole - Belize

This incredible geographical phenomenon known as a blue hole is situated 60 miles off the mainland of Belize. There are numerous blue holes around the world, but none as stunning as this one.


5. Mirny Diamond Mine - Serbia

I'm pretty sure most people have seen this one. It's an absolute beast and holds the title of largest open diamond mines in the world. At 525 meters deep, with a top diameter of 1200 meters, there's even a no-fly zone above the hole due to a few helicopters having been sucked in.


6. Diavik Mine - Canada

The mine is so huge and the area so remote that it has its own airport with a runway large enough to accommodate a Boeing 737. It looks equally cool when the surrounding water is frozen.


7. Sinkhole - Guatemala

This is a photo of a sinkhole that occurred early this year in Guatemala. The hole swallowed a dozen homes and killed at least 3 people.


8. The Door to Hell - Turkmenistan

In 1971, during a drilling, geologists accidentally found an underground cavern filled with natural gas. The ground on which the drilling rig was placed collapsed, leaving a large gaping hole exposed with a diameter of about 50-100 meters. To avoid poisonous gases coming out of the hole, it was decided to let the gases burn. As of 2008, gases in the underground cavern are still burning without interruption. Locals have named the cavern The Door to Hell

And the really terrifying one!


9. Rat Hole - Washington

This is the famous 'Rat Hole' that you have heard about. It is capable of swallowing trillions and trillions of U.S. dollars annually, never to be seen again.

One Big Egg !!

Wow! That's one big egg!
Is it real?



Yes it is...
Oh hey, here's another one.



These are eggs laid by Vorompatra (a.k.a. Aepyornis; Elephant Bird; Vouroupatra/Vouron Patra) - The largest bird known to science.



The Vorompatra (Aepyornis maximus) roamed the woodlands, marshes, and sand dunes of Madagascar until its relatively recent extinction. The bird laid the largest eggs known to have ever existed; these eggs may have inspired tales of the mythical elephant-lifting bird, the Roc (or Rukh) of the Arabian Nights. Man arrived on Madagascar about two millennia ago; hunting, egg predation, and gradual loss of habitat to agriculture all probably contributed to the demise of this ten foot tall, half-ton avian wonder.

Vorompatra was a ratite, a bird which could not fly because its breast bone had no keel (the term derives from ratis, Latin for "raft"). This "keel" serves to anchor the strong musculature other birds need for powered flight. Flightless birds evolved early in the Cenozoic Era, when the departure of their dinosaur ancestors cleared the stage for the evolution of new megafauna--mammals and birds were free to move into the niches so long occupied by the "Terrible Lizards". Other ratites are still found throughout the southern hemisphere; this circumstance gave rise to the "traditional" theory that these birds originated on the former continent of Gondwana, but the lack of key supporting evidence for this idea calls it into question.

The Six Billion Dollar Experiment

It just might be the most complicated thing that humans have ever built. What is it? The Large Hadron Collider.



The Large Hadron Collider promises to recreate the conditions right after the Big Bang. By revisiting the beginning of time, scientists hope to unravel some of the deepest secrets of our Universe. At Cern, the Large Hadron Collider could recreate conditions that last prevailed when the universe was less than a trillionth of a second old.



Within these first few moments the building blocks of the Universe were created. The search for these fundamental particles has occupied scientists for decades but there remains one particle that has stubbornly refused to appear in any experiment. The Higgs Boson is so crucial to our understanding of the Universe that it has been dubbed the God particle. It explains how fundamental particles acquire mass, or as one scientist plainly states: "It is what makes stuff stuff..."



Here are some stats for you trivia fans:

• 20-year work-in-progress
• A team of 7,000 physicists from more than 80 nations
• 27 kilometers in circumference,
• 175 meters underground
• facilitating head-on collision of protons, traveling very near the speed-of-light
• each tunnel is big enough to run a train through it.
• temperatures generated: more than 1000,000 times hotter than the sun's core
• superconducting magnets are cooled to a temperature colder than in deep space

A 1000 lb Rosary?

On a small plot of ground his his rural Nokomis yard, Bernard Clark felt like constructing a giant rosary to help push the message of prayer to passing motorists.

The 1000 lb. rosary  is made of old bowling balls and probably weighs close to 1,000 pounds, give or take. Chub has linked each ball by ¼-inch log chain and attaching a 2-foot by 16-inch cross hewn from 4-by-4 treated lumber at the center.

Now that's a heavy message!

World's Largest Creature Ever

The dinosaurs were massive, especially some of the large herbivores such as Brachiosaurus. However, did you know that the biggest creature to ever live is still alive today? At up to 30m in length and weighing over 180 tonnes, the Blue Whale is the largest creature of all time.

This picture is a to-scale size comparison of the Blue Whale to other famous large dinosaurs, the Elephant (largest land animal alive today) and to show just how small we are - a human.

Hungry?

What we have here is the world's largest plate of hummus! The record was set in Mahaneh Yehuda market in Jerusalem by Hummus Tzabar, an Israeli hummus manufacturer.

Just how big is it? Well, this incredible plate of hummus weighed in at 881 lbs, and was served on a really really large plate.

Compare size of man in relation to size of camera displayed recently in Berlin. One of the amazing displays at the recent camera exposition held in Berlin was that of a camera almost the size of a man. This camera was complete in every detail and was fully capable of taking pictures.
